Mandatory Team Meeting For State Cup -- One Administrator and One Coach from Each Team Must Attend this Meeting

A Mandatory State Cup Meeting for both a team administrator and coach from each team entered in State Cup will be held on Friday, September 5. The meeting will be held at Juan Diego Elementary School and run from 7 PM to about 8:15 PM. One person can not represent teams from with in their club. Questions will be answered following the meeting for those who want to stay. Items covered in the meeting will be the new rule changes, seeding of the teams, play in games, location of FWR in June 2009, bracket play, qtr-finals, semi-finals and finals. Sign in will start at 6:15 PM and the meeting will start on time.

If a team does not have a team administrator and a coach there to represent the team they will lose their bond and have 24 hrs to get a new bond in place or they will not be allowed to play in State Cup. Any parent on the team can be the team administrator for the meeting and an assistant coach can attend for the head coach.

Utah Youth Soccer has announced that the registration deadline for Presidents Cup has been set. We would like to invite your team to participate this year in the President's Cup to showcase your teams skills. Below are all the quick facts you need to know about the tournament.

President's Cup Tournament Date: Wednesday, October 1st through Saturday, October 11th
Location: West Jordan Complex
Age: U-9 through U-18 girls and boys
Fee: $475.00 for U-12 through U-18, $350.00 for U-9 through U-11

TOSH Athlete of the Month

The Athlete of the Month for August is Parker Dixon. He was chosen not only for his athletic abilities but also his outstanding citizenship and academic achievements.

Parker has been playing soccer for 10 years and currently plays center midfield for Utah Rush Nike 94. He also participated in the ODP program this year. He has a few favorite soccer teams consisting of Manchester United, the Spanish National Team and the Danish National Team. Parker's favorite movie is "The Dark Knight", and his favorite book is "Dragon Rider". He loves to eat pizza and shrimp fettuccini. More...

Cassell Called Into U.S. U-15 WNT Nike Friendlies

Anna Cassell Anna Cassell of Salt Lake City, Utah was selected to participate in the third annual 2008 Women's Nike Friendlies that will take place Aug. 21-24 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. More than 25 teams will participate in the prestigious youth competition, including three team's representing the U.S. Under-14 and Under-15 Girls' National Teams.

The 2008 edition of the Women's Nike Friendlies will feature more than 25 teams from clubs around the country, along with two U.S. U-14 Girls' National Teams and the U.S. U-15 Girls' National Teams. Teams will participate in the U-15, U-16 and U-17 age levels. The two U.S. U-14 Girls' National Teams will participate in the U-16 age group, and the U.S. U-15 Girls' National Team will participate at the U-17 level. More...

La Roca Team Wins at Santa Clara Sporting Tournament

The LaRoca Premier 94 boys, coached by Adolfo Ovalle, won the Santa Clara Sporting tournament in Santa Clara, California on August 10th.

The team played all California North teams and started pool play by beating San Juan Lightning 2-1. Their second game was against Santa Clara Sporting, and LaRoca fell short 0-2 in this game. The 3rd and final pool play game was against Marin FC and LaRoca won this game 3-1 to advance to the Quarter-Finals. In the Quarter-final match, LaRoca won in PK's against another strong California North team, DeAnza Force to advance to the semi-finals.

LaRoca won the semi-final match 3-0 against California Odyssey and went on to face Santa Clara Sporting, the host team, once again. The championship game went to overtime where LaRoca scored and won the game 2-1. Click here for full-size picture

Utah ODP Garners 35 Players in 2008 Region IV and U.S. National Team Pools

State Technical Director Greg Maas, ODP Administrator Judy Martin, and UYSA Technical Department Coordinator Colette Albretsen teamed up with an outstanding, dedicated, committed group of coaches, team administrators, and volunteers for a very successful 2007-08 ODP campaign. Coach Maas quickly credits the hard work and dedication of the age group coaches, players, and administrators; and importantly, the commitment to player development and support for ODP by our coaches and players around the state. "US Youth Soccer's ODP is a vital program for player identification for U.S. Soccer, and as long as our coaches and players around the state continue to support ODP, we will continue to see Utah players identified into our region and national team programs," Maas said. Why is part of the 2009 State Cup Played in 2008?

UYSA State Cup is part of the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series which is played yearly. The 2008 Championships was complete after the National Tournament in July 2008. The Region IV tournament was played in June with the winners advancing to the National Tournament. Utah State Cup is played in two installments Boys and Girls. For the 2009 State Cup Boys U11-U18 will play in the Fall and Girls U11-U19 plus Boys U19 will play in the Spring. The winners will advance to the Regional IV Championships (Regionals) to be held June 2009. So you see, the Fall State Cup being played in 2008 is actually part of the 2009 State Cup Championships.
