Utah Players Called For National Camp

Taylor Ritzman US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls will hold their third U-15 (93s) / U-16 (92s) Developmental Camp in Pomona, Calif., from Wednesday, February 20 to Monday, February 25. Harley Spier, Anna Cassell, and Taylor Ritzman have been called to duty at the 2008 U15/16 National Development Camp. Harley is a member of the 92 Utah ODP team and plays for Avalanche 92 Premier. Anna and Taylor are both members of the 93 Utah ODP team and play for Sparta 93 Premier. Anna said, "I am excited to have the opportunity to go to this national camp".

In attendance will be 160 invitation-only campers. The camp will be a scramble format with functional training, Small-Sided Games, street soccer, guest speakers and mini round-robin tournament on the final day. The developmental camp focuses on Small-Sided Games so that the players are highlighted as individuals.

"US Youth Soccer ODP realizes the importance of laying the groundwork for tactical and technical development of our young players," said John Ellinger, US Youth Soccer Technical Director. "It is important that the experience for the players be positive and especially in these developmental camp situations. What our players learn in this initial set up can set the tone for their future developmental progress.
