Region IV ODP Camp Update

The first week of Region IV’s ODP camp has concluded for Utah’s ‘95 boys. The respective Region IV ODP camps are held at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon for the boys and the University of Pacific in Stockton, California for the girls. Utah ODP was represented by two very good teams (Utah Black and Utah White), and are coached by Mike Polich, Eric Blommer, Will Rader and John Ragsdale. Despite facing 100 degree temperatures, both teams garnered solid 2-2 records during the week. Congratulations to each of the teams, and to the following players who have been named to this year’s Region IV ODP Pool for the '95 boys: Alexi Beiza, Lucas Cawley, Jehoshua Chavez and Matthew Coffey.

The ’94 and '93 girls, and the ’94 boys arrive to their respective camps this week and we wish them continued success in their play. Congratulations and thanks to all of the players, coaches and administrative staff for a job well done!

New Uniform Policy Announcement
All Utah Youth Soccer Player uniforms are to have the US Youth and UTAH combined logo on them.

US Youth has mandated that all state associations comply with their uniform policy. As a result, the Utah Youth Soccer bylaw has been rewritten to comply. As a result, we ask that all players comply with the following uniform bylaw as stated below:

Section 5:02:02

UNIFORMS. Each player may, at the discretion of the governing body, be issued as part of his or her registration fee a uniform consisting of a shirt that displays the USYSA and UYSA logos in conjunction with a league, club or district logos and an individual number at least eight (8) inches high on the back, a pair of shorts and socks. Shin-guards are mandatory.

The state office is aware that many teams and clubs may be on a uniform cycle that either just started or will start in the coming year. Please take the necessary actions to comply with the preceding bylaw as soon as possible. All Utah Youth Soccer player uniforms are to have this logo on one of the sleeves or shorts. The logo that is to be used is the US Youth Combined with UTAH logo and can be found at www.utahyouthsoccer.net/graphics.html If higher resolution graphics is needed, please contact the State Office at (801) 268-3365.

Far West Regional Championships Twenty-one teams from Utah had the opportunity of playing against some of the best teams in the country at the 2008 Far West Regional Championships held June 16-22 in Hawaii. Adjusting to the humid climate, time difference and elevation, Utah teams took their best games to the field. Six teams advanced to the quarter-final round and one team advanced to the semi-final round. Many of you followed uysa.blogspot.com for reports from the field. Our two official bloggers Jerry and Emily did a great of reporting on their activities and games. Mahalo (thank you) to all the regional participants. A special mahalo to the parents and coaches for their support and encouragement.

The team earned their spot by knocking out the Cal South state champion in the quarterfinals 3-0 after finish second in the group stage with 6 points. However, the semifinal game needed penalty kicks to decide who advanced to the finals after the teams played to a 0-0 draw during regulation play.
